ASTM A131 beam steel web instability. There are two main reasons for the formation of the web compressive stress: in ASTM A131 beam steel the welding process, the longitudinal shrinkage of the fillet weld between the flange and the web produces the residual compressive stress on the web. As a result, a portion of the web in the mounting joint area is actually subjected to bidirectional compressive stress.
Other deformation. It mainly includes sidebending, arched and twisted deformation of ASTM A131 beam steel, which is caused by gas cutting and unreasonable welding sequence. Once such welding deformation exceeds the standard requirements, it is very difficult to rectify. Sometimes the whole ASTM A131 beam steel workpiece must be cut and re-welded, and even the whole workpiece scrapped, resulting in huge economic losses and time delays. In construction, technical measures should be taken to avoid such deformation.
