API 2HGR50 marine steel plate is carburized steel. Carburized steel is usually low-carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.15%-0.24%. API 2HGR50 marine steel plate is for the structure of offshore platforms in the United States.

Chemical composition of API 2HGR50 marine steel plate:
Silicon Si: 0.17~0.37%; Manganese Mn: 1.00~1.30%; Chromium Cr: 0.80~1.10%; Sulfur: not more than 0.035%; Phosphorus: not more than 0.035%.

Mechanical properties of API 2HGR50 marine steel plate:
Tensile strength σb (MPa): not less than 930

Yield strength σs (MPa): not less than 735

Elongation δ5 (%): not less than 10

Reduction of area ψ (%): not less than 45

Impact energy Akv (J): not less than 47) (annealed or high temperature tempered state): not more than 187.

 

API 2HGR50 marine steel plate is suitable for surface carburizing and hardening treatment. It has good workability, small processing deformation, and good fatigue-relieving performance. API 2HGR50 marine steel plate is used to make ship hulls, offshore oil production platforms, platform pipe joints and other structural parts.
